Ultimaps Sep'24 Release: Reworked Fill Dialogs and Ultimaps Pro
In our September 2024 release, we’ve given the styling dialogs (Fill, Stroke, and Font) a major overhaul, introduced Pattern fills, and added the much-requested Bucket Fill tool. Plus, we’re excited to introduce the Pro plan for our advanced users.
New Styling Dialogs
Listening to your feedback, we decided to rework our styling dialogs. We’ve swapped the RGB color picker for a regular palette, similar to what you find in other apps (though the RGB picker is still available if you need it).
For ease of use, when you open a Fill dialog for a region, category, or legend item, you’ll now see a list of colors already used in your document, making it easy to reuse them.
Pattern Fills
You can now add pattern fills to regions in our Illustration and Category map types. This is handy when you need a region to represent more than one data point. For instance, if you’re creating a sales territory map of the United States and you have multiple sales representatives in California, you can use the Pattern fill to color California with two different colors.
Bucket Fill Tool
We’ve added a simple but much-requested tool that lets you fill regions by just clicking on them. Choose a style (color or pattern), click on the regions, and they will fill with your selected style. An Eraser tool is also available to undo any changes.
Note: This tool works only with Illustration maps.
Ultimaps Pro
We’re introducing our first paid plan, designed for those who publish maps regularly or need advanced features like embedding maps on a website.
Don’t worry, our core features will always stay free. You can create and store unlimited maps, export to PNG, or share your interactive maps via a link.
Here’s what you’ll get with the Pro plan:
- Remove the attribution from the bottom of your maps
- Export your map as an SVG or High-Resolution PNG for printing or further editing
- Embed your interactive map into your website
- Request custom maps from our team
- Get priority support via email
By subscribing to the Pro plan, you’ll also be supporting the ongoing development of the app, helping us make it even better.
